Stay a while! You are so beautiful!
Since winning the 2019 Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition, Samara Joy has been considered a rising star in the jazz sky. Her phenomenal voice suggests comparisons to Ella Fitzgerald, Carmen McRae or the young Sarah Vaughan. In 2021, she released her acclaimed debut album, and her performances have caused no less of a sensation worldwide. Millions of clicks on TikTok and YouTube also prove that the New Yorker knows how to inspire young audiences for jazz. And the success story continues: Samara Joy's latest album won her two Grammys. On »Linger awhile« she dedicates herself to classics like »Someone to watch over me« as well as less popular jazz numbers, including »Sweet pumpkin« by Ronnell Bright. More well-known, however, is the title song by Vincent Rose, which was first published 100 years ago. Samara Joy's music beautifully unites past, present and future.
