Joseph Roth: The Bust of the Emperor

Joseph Roth's novella »The Emperor's Bust«, published in 1935, is an ironic yet melancholy reminiscence of a (supposedly) golden age of the Habsburg monarchy: The figure of Franz Joseph I appears as a kind of superfather. He became something of a legend during his lifetime.
