Arnold Schönberg's Violin Concerto is one of the rare treasures in the concert hall. Jascha Heifetz considered the solo part of the work, which was written in exile in America, to be unplayable. Louis Krasner, who had also performed Berg's Violin Concerto for the first time in 1936, was the soloist at the premiere in December 1940. The versatile violinist Patricia Kopatchinskaja has given this demanding concerto a permanent place in her repertoire, and the highly virtuoso solo part is in the capable hands of our portrait artist. When Patricia Kopatchinskaja is performing alongside the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Uzbekistan-born conductor Aziz Shokhakimov, Music Director of the Orchestre Philharmonique de Strasbourg and Artistic Director of the Tekfen Philharmonic Orchestra, will be making his Konzerthaus debut.
