In Vienna’s 11th district, the Aris Quartet performed for the participants of the „Wiener Lerntafel“ – an institution providing educational aid free of charge, in particular to children from a migrant background. In the context of an artists’ visit, the musicians met around 150 kids of elementary school-age with their families and volunteer guardians. Owing to the experience gained in previous encounters of this kind, the members of the quartet were able to present the programme themselves. They introduced their instruments, shared stories from the every-day life of a musician and played selected parts of Joseph Haydn’s string quartet in B-flat major, Hob. III:78 - “Sunrise”, and Antonìn Dvorák’s string quartet No. 13 in G major op.106. Following the performance, the children were able to put questions to the musicians that they had prepared in advance. Owing to their friendly and open manner, the members of the Aris Quartet offered the children a very positive first encounter with classical music.
