In the context of an artist’s visit at an elementary school in Vienna, Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis presented his instrument to approximately 50 pupils between 8 and 9 years of age. He selected a very varied programme to introduce the violin in all its facets. Following the concert, the pupils were able to ask questions and to try out the instrument themselves. In the course of this special encounter, the children were given the opportunity to get to know various kinds of music they would not normally come across. It represented a certain challenge for Jevgēnijs Čepoveckis to communicate with such a young audience and to talk to them about his passion for music; but owing to his friendly and open manner, he was ideally suited to this task. In a workshop, which took place in the run-up to the concert, the children built their own string instruments and visited the Wiener Konzerthaus for a guided tour behind the scenes.
