She shines as a star over the sea, walked through a thorn forest and wept at the foot of the cross: the Virgin Mary. Like hardly any other figure, she has embodied the most diverse images of women over the centuries. If one also considers her namesake Mary Magdalene, the spectrum extends from the saint to the whore: Mary Mater Meretrix. In a program ranging from the Middle Ages to contemporary music, Patricia Kopatchinskaja and Anna Prohaska shed light on this multi-layered female figure. With this colorful musical kaleidoscope, the two soloists once again demonstrate their creative skills.
