With its initiative „konzertzuhaus“ (concertathome), the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft has created a platform which has become well established within a very short period of time, already registering several hundred thousand hits. As a new project designed to counteract the continuing silence reigning in the halls of the concert house, we are organising a so-called digital “Pop-Up Stage” (“Auf den Punkt gebracht”), musical theme weeks, starting in February 2021. Every week, the focus will be on a different genre, with additional interviews, concerts and discussions highlighting each topic. Particular attention will be paid in drawing attention to some choice musical artists and their contributions, some of which already exist, others will be produced especially, to illustrate the quintessential aspects of each theme. The week dedicated to the piano, will feature the stream of a joint performance of Martha Argerich and Sophie Pacini. The grande dame of the piano – as well as of the Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft – endeavours to support young artists, offering them an opportunity to attract attention and ensure their media presence. In times of very limited opportunities to pursue their profession, this project is designed to enable artists to present their art to as many people as possible – even without a live audience. In a separate video, Sophie Pacini will announce this streamed performance, addressing her audience directly. Owing to the support of such a renowned artistic personality as Martha Argerich, this digital contribution will be imbued with a special charisma, exerting a positive influence on the young artist’s impact and attracting a great deal of digital and media attention.
With its digital theme weeks, the Wiener Konzerthaus attempts to forge a strong link between the venue and its audiences and, with the help of charismatic artists, to introduce them to the new reality of digital performances. An elaborate marketing strategy was developed to reach a whole new set of listeners, taking advantage of various different channels and platforms. The great diversity of the digital theme weeks allows us to address a wide range of audiences, offering them the possibility of encountering new, very varied and possibly unfamiliar genres and of meeting exciting new artists.
