New Discovery
With his Violin Concerto, Johannes Brahms wrote, at least in terms of length, one of the most complex and substantial works in the genre. Maxim Vengerov will perform it together with the Toronto Symphony Orchestra under Peter Oundjian. The British Gramophone magazine wrote of his CD recording of the work that the German-based Russian-Israeli violinist used a »daringly wide range of dynamics« and that it exuded a »feeling of freshness and new discovery«.
