In the context of “unerhört”, the one-year joint project with our partner school, we presented a moderated concert in the new secondary school’s main auditorium in Feuerbachstraße, which is situated in a less privileged environment. 120 pupils between the ages of 12 and 13 years, most of them with a migration background, participated in this project. Ivan Krpan presented excerpts from his current repertoire and the pupils were able to pose questions that they had prepared in advance. In the course of these dialogues, they found out about the artist’s musical and personal experiences gained during his international travels. In the context of this event, they got acquainted with classical music in general at their school. Owing to Mr. Krpal’s authentic appearance, a majority of young people received a positive first impression of this kind of music. He managed to impress and captivate his audience with his artistic virtuosity and great musicality; hence it is highly likely that we will invite Mr. Krpan to become part of our future music mediation programmes.
