In the course of an artist’s visit, Tamás Pálfavi presented his instrument to a group of 19 students between the ages of 17 and 18 years at a Viennese secondary school. He started by performing a work by Robert Erickson written in 1977 in order to demonstrate unusual techniques in an amusing way to his audience. This was followed by a question and answer session during which the students were allowed to try out the instrument themselves. Finally, Tamás Pálfalvi played a work by Paul Hindemith. Through this very special visit, the students were given the opportunity to acquaint themselves with works that lie well outside the conventional repertoire. Tamás Pálfalvi is highly interested in sharing his passion for the trumpet as well as for contemporary music; and owing to his appealing manner, he manages brilliantly to pass on his enthusiasm to others.
