Joshua Redman & Brad Mehldau

»Josh was my first bandleader in 1993«, Brad Mehldau recalls of his first musical time with Joshua Redman, »and I learned a lot from him in that context. He was a role model for me in terms of the principles he applied to music, which are also general in nature: listening to others, giving space and freedom, but still giving a strong direction, connecting with the audience and not just navel-gazing, things like that.« The two exceptional jazz musicians will perform as a duo at the Wiener Konzerthaus and illustrate an extraordinary musical relationship that has lasted for decades. The two crossed paths at crucial points in their careers: both signed contracts with a major record label when they moved to New York City in the early 1990s, Mehldau played in Redman's quartet for over a year and made their first recordings together in 1994. Time and again, one of them played in the other's ambitious projects - now they can be experienced as a duo!
