Groovy vibes

The five-piece formation, consisting of members of the Vienna Philharmonic and an exceptional pianist, combines sound aesthetics, the art of phrasing and virtuosity with modern expressive dynamics, creating a unique musical world in which old and new merge into radiant harmony - with a mixture of classical music, jazz, folk, pop and Latin.

In the first part of the evening, the Philharmonic Five dedicate themselves to the dazzling sound world of Nikolai Kapustin - a composer who combines classical craftsmanship and jazzy freedom in a virtuoso and entertaining way. The Piano Quintet op. 89 and a selection of the sparkling, energetic Concert Etudes op. 40 leave no doubt: the classical label is loose here and swing is in charge.

Under the motto »Groovy vibes«, the Philharmonic Five ignite musical fireworks with their own arrangements of Duke Ellington, Chick Corea, Michel Camilo and other greats. Whether Latin fire, big band glamor or funky jazz riffs - everything that grooves and shines is allowed here. Musical boundaries are elegantly broken down and the concert hall becomes a musical playground.
