What would a concert by the Vienna Symphonic Schrammel Quintet be in the anniversary year of Johann Strauss (son) without his dances? In a traditional Schrammel line-up – with two violins, the »picksüßer Hölzl«, a Schrammel harmonica and a contraguitar - the ensemble strolls through the musical splendor of the turn of the century. It draws on an equally rich and entertaining œuvre and – embedded in the one or other entertainingly told story – performs not only compositions by the Strauss dynasty but also marches, polkas and dances by no less productive contemporaries such as Johann and Josef Schrammel and Carl Michael Ziehrer.
