Open House

On 18 September we invite you to an open day. We welcome you warmly and offer you the whole artistic variety of our house from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.: Look forward to a varied programme for children, young people and adults with musical surprises from lots of fantastic artists. On this day we will also celebrate our 30-year general partnership with Kapsch TrafficCom.

11:00am to 02:00pm: program exclusively for children
02:00pm to 05:30pm: program for adults and children only
05:30pm to 09:00pm: program for adults and young adults.

  • The »Open Day« will take place in the various halls of the Wiener Konzerthaus with free seating. The seating capacity for all events is limited. For this reason, it may not always be possible to admit all visitors to their favorite events. We thank you for your understanding.

Martin Grubinger and his Percussive Planet Ensemble perform Iannis Xenakis' »Persephassa« twice: the spatially conceived work can be listened to from different perspectives – the musicians play on six islands, the audience is allowed to move freely on the cleared first floor.

The SWR Symphonieorchester, conducted by Jean-Christophe Spinosi, is dedicated to Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9, with Christina Landshamer, Julia Böhme, Julian Prégardien, Tareq Nazmi and the Wiener Singakademie.

The RSO Wien will perform Mozart's Piano Concerto in C major K 387b under the baton of Howard Griffiths – the solo part will be played by pianist Roman Borisov. Our Great Talent Anton Gerzenberg will perform on the piano. Singing enthusiasts should not miss the Sing Along with the Wiener Singakademie. Finally, the wind ensemble Federspiel will play.

Already in the morning our children's program begins: offered are many formats to listen and participate with Federspiel and Louie's Cage Percussion. Later there will be concerts by the Wladigeroff Brothers & Ethel Merhaut, Danny Grissett & Georg Breinschmid as well as CHRISTL and EsRAP from the areas of singer-songwriter and city sounds.

A joint music experience for people with and without disabilities: In cooperation with the mdw – University of Music and Performing Arts, the Inclusive Sound Festival takes place here. Five ensembles, consisting of professionals and amateurs, students and teachers of the mdw play baroque and classical works, chorales as well as folk and pop music. In addition, Aliosha Biz & Alexander Shevchenko, Marwan Abado & Arnuld Lindner and many others will give guest performances in the Schubert-Saal.

Albin Paulus and the Vivid Consort play early music. Julia Hagen and the Selini Quartet devote themselves to classical chamber music. Texts by Karl Kraus will be read. A silent film by Buster Keaton will be shown, accompanied by music by Helmut Stippich.
