Powerful love triangle
Virginie Despentes, considered the enfant terrible of French literature, holds up a mirror to our society in her novel »Dear Asshole«. This tour de force through social debates and conflicts is read by a congenial acting trio consisting of Caroline Peters, Martin Wuttke and Lili Winderlich. The three protagonists - an actress, a writer and a social media activist - meet digitally after an accidental Instagram post. The result is a witty and biting love triangle, a modern epistolary novel in which Despentes tackles the issues of our time: #MeToo, social media, drugs, feminism, abuse of power and the generation gap. However, there is no shortage of reconciliation: how fitting that pop prodigy Oskar Haag provides the calm, soulful soundtrack.
