Sound of Cultures: Salzburg - St. Florian - Vienna / Haydn - Aumann - Mozart
The Archbishopric of Salzburg produced two musical giants, Biber and Mozart, who revolutionized violin playing. The Haydn brothers enjoyed writing virtuoso music for the violoncello. The Florian composer Franz Josef Aumann was probably a violist himself and regularly provided the viola with highly virtuoso tasks. His works were sometimes mistaken for Mozart's oeuvre, such was the genius of this man. His friendship with Haydn contributed greatly to the blending of stylistic differences between Vienna and Salzburg.
Ars Antiqua Austria presents exciting and virtuoso chamber music from the oeuvre of these Austrian classics.
