Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

Nikolai Lugansky

An entire universe in the space of 88 keys: Nikolai Lugansky, an expert in Romantic music, delves into the infinite sound worlds of the 19th century. With Mendelssohn's »Songs without Words«, he concentrates on intimate forms, germ cells of the prototypical Romantic, but also on the dramaturgically »grand scene« of a Wagnerian »Götterdämmerung«, impressively distilled in his own arrangement for the pianistic cosmos. Of course, on such a special evening, virtuoso Lugansky also lets the »singer at the piano«, Frédéric Chopin, have his say - with a masterful interpretation of selected ballads and a nocturne.
