The Jimi Hendrix of folk music
He has been called the Jimi Hendrix of folk music or the Frank Zappa of
the Alps. He has been compared to Piazzolla and Paganini, and yet the
South Tyrolean-born musician has created and developed a completely
unmistakable musical style over the years. We are talking about Herbert
Pixner, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and namesake of the
Herbert Pixner Project. For almost two decades now, this formation has
been one of the most successful representatives of »progressive folk
music«. With playful, lascivious gentleness, powerful rock and blues
riffs, brilliant technique, a bold love of improvisation and borrowings
from tango, flamenco and jazz, they have been delighting audiences for
years. It sounds minimalist, rugged, dreamy, but always authentic. They
weave a diverse tapestry of sound, there is room for gentle melancholy
and also for outbursts that stop at nothing. Even after 2,000 (!)
sold-out concerts, Herbert Pixner and his congenial fellow musicians
continue to electrify their audience with their ecstatic joy of playing
with every new performance. For the »Tour 2024«, Herbert Pixner has
expanded the project in terms of personnel. In addition to the usual
line-up of Manuel Randi (guitars), Werner Unterlercher (bass) and
Ysaline Lentze (harp), Alessandro Trebo will now also be joining them on
the grand piano. The Herbert Pixner Project 2024 will once again
present a new, exciting concert program.
