From gypsy swing to tango made in Finland
Diknu Schneeberger was once regarded as a child prodigy on the guitar, today it is impossible to imagine the gypsy swing scene without him. Since being awarded the Hans Koller Prize, Schneeberger, who grew up with the music of Django Reinhardt as the child of a Sinti-Jenish family, has been the talk of the European music scene. The Süddeutsche Zeitung called him a »talent of the century«. When the brilliant guitarist forms a quartet with accordion virtuoso Christian Bakanic, who has made a name for himself in jazz and chamber music, as well as Julian Wohlmuth and Martin Heinzle, a new musical cosmos is created in which gypsy jazz meets Balkan sounds, Alpine meets Mediterranean folk music and swing meets tango.
The multi-award-winning quartet Sväng has stood for Nordic harmonica art at the highest level for 20 years. The repertoire of the four musicians, who met at the Sibelius Academy, includes everything between tango, blues and late romanticism. With humor, joy of playing and a lot of virtuosity, they inspire audiences around the globe and present the album »Svängo Nuevo« for their anniversary.
