Female power and a world premiere
The Strasbourg-based Ensemble Linea presents itself in the Mozart Hall under the direction of its founder Jean-Philippe Wurtz, who learned conducting from Péter Eötvös, among others, was assistant to Kent Nagano in Lyon and has conducted countless world premieres. This evening promises to be exciting in this respect with a major new work for voice (Johanna Vargas), electric guitar and ensemble by Clemens Gadenstätter. Chaya Czernowin transforms a book her son wrote as a four-year-old into an astonishing crescendo, her former composition student Zeynep Toraman finishes a cycle of poems, and Rebecca Saunders brings an angry double bass to the stage.
