Presented by Wiener Konzerthausgesellschaft

From Bamberg to the world

»Resonating worldwide«: true to this motto, the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra has been acting as an international cultural ambassador for Bavaria since 1946. Chief conductor Jakub Hrůša loves it when people »really come with open hearts and are prepared to experience something new in general«. So it is worth rediscovering Beethoven's Fourth, according to Robert Schumann the »most classical« of all Beethoven symphonies, at the Bamberg guest performance. And in the second half of the concert, Daniil Trifonov, »the Rachmaninoff interpreter par excellence« (The Guardian), joins the German orchestra for the »Rhapsody on a Theme by Paganini«. »I see the rhapsody as a miniature ballet, a dance with destiny that deals with Paganini's soul«, says the keyboard virtuoso about Rachmaninoff's last work for piano and orchestra.
