An existential quest in Norway
»For a long time, music was the only thing that interested me. Then I stopped listening to music and started writing«, says Norwegian author Jon Fosse. It is therefore not surprising that the Nobel Prize winner's texts are very rhythmic, almost musical. His novel »Trilogy«, published in 2016, is set in his home country of Norway. Two young people, Alida and Asle, wander through a coastal town in the cold late fall. All they have are two tied-up bundles and a violin case. Although Alida is heavily pregnant, no one wants to give them a place to stay. This first part of the trilogy continues in two further, sad stories that are told in such a way that they leave you in a state of limbo. Jens Harzer and Sandra Hüller, recently nominated for a Golden Globe and an Oscar, read. The Norwegian duo Mathias Eick (trumpet) and Håkon Aases (violin) will musically immerse the audience in the vastness of the Norwegian landscape.
