Free Spirit With Depth
Imaginative forays into dark folk tales, humorous autobiographical stories and whimsical observations of everyday life characterize the song lyrics of the Austrian-British singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Alicia Edelweiss. She is always keen to experiment with new instruments and electronic sounds in her music and draws inspiration from dance, circus arts, cabaret and other performing arts. Alicia Edelweiss began her musical career as a teenager when she spent two years traveling around Europe as a street musician before settling in Portugal for a while. It was there that she discovered the accordion, which is now her main instrument and trademark. Her performance at Popfest Vienna 2018 was described as »one of the most touching, intimate and at the same time entertaining performances« of the entire event. The release of her debut studio album »When I'm enlightened, everything will be better« in 2019 was followed by a tour of Austria, Germany and Slovenia, including concerts at the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg and the MENT Festival in Ljubljana.
