Horváth: The eternal philistine

A satire of the New Objectivity: Horváth satirizes the type of the »modern philistine« in his social satire of the interwar period. The main character is the deceitful car salesman Alfons, who tries to be an upstart through his liaisons with rich women. Regina Fritsch reads from Horváth's first novel, while pianist Anfisa Bobylova, who was already a guest in the cycle last season, presents works of Romanticism, Impressionism and Modernism.
