Ode to diversity
For more than 25 years, singer Lura has dedicated herself to Cape Verdean music. On her latest album »Multicolour«, she makes a strong case for a diverse and multicultural society, singing about strong women, self-love and self-assertion. Having grown up in Lisbon as the daughter of Cape Verdean parents, Lura has both Cape Verdean and Portuguese music in her blood. Versatile and with a strong voice, she blends Cape Verdean music forms such as Batuku, Funaná and Morna with other African and European influences to create expressive songs. Lura conquered the music world with the resounding success of her song »Na ri na« from her 2004 album »Di korpo ku alma« and through collaborations with world music greats such as Cesária Évora, Bonga, Richard Bona, Gotan Project and Angélique Kidjo.
