Philharmonic brass music

Sixteen brass players and four percussionists, members of the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras as well as friends from other orchestras, had a burning common passion to create an exciting new listening experience. Drawing on the wealth of experience they have gained performing in the world's greatest concert halls, they have formed a brand new ensemble: The Philharmonic Brass. The arrangements specially tailored to the musicians of the ensemble are just as brand new. The technical and artistic demands of the arrangements - exceptional virtuosity, a rich variety of tonal colours and faithfulness to the intention of the respective works - are an essential prerequisite for the realisation of the ensemble's artistic vision. In collaboration with conductors who are closely associated with both the Berlin and Vienna Philharmonic Orchestras, The Philharmonic Brass aims to create unforgettable concert experiences. Under the direction of Tugan Sokhiev, The Philharmonic Brass presents works by Russian composers, including Modest Mussorgsky's popular »Pictures at an Exhibition«, at its debut at the Vienna Konzerthaus.
