Opulence of sound
»He is a very profound artist [...], obsessed with good sound and good instruments«: in 2023, Christoph Sietzen premiered the music for percussion and orchestra »Whereas the Reality Trembles« by Johannes Maria Staud, which was dedicated to him. Staud draws inspiration for his compositions from literature, film, visual art and philosophy - in this case from a poem by the American William Carlos Williams. Musically, new worlds are created, the sound possibilities seem endless: »classical« percussion instruments are played just as virtuously as flower pots, canisters or barrels. Sergei Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony, composed in 1906/07, is also impressively rich and is also on the programme of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra concert under Andris Poga.
