Soap&Skin

Austrian singer-songwriter Anja Plaschg made her debut as a teenager in 2009 with her critically acclaimed debut album Soap & Skin, which was a huge success in Austria. Born in Gnas in south-eastern Styria and raised on a farm, the artist began writing and performing music on the piano as a teenager and eventually studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. She made her commercial debut as Soap & Skin in 2008 with the four-track EP of the same name. The following year, at the age of 18, she released her debut album »Lovetune for Vacuum«. Consisting of songs written between 2005 and 2008, »Lovetune for Vacuum« spawned two hit singles (»Spiracle«, »Mr. Gaunt Pt. 1000«) and reached the top five of the album charts in Austria. Internationally, the album also reached the charts in France and Belgium. The reviews for »Lovetune for Vacuum« were very positive and often drew comparisons between Plaschg and famous female singer-songwriters such as Cat Power, Nico, Kate Bush and Björk. In 2010, Plaschg was awarded the European Border Breakers Award for her international success. The following year, the artist went quiet as she focused on writing more material and other creative endeavors. In 2012, she made her debut as an actress in Sebastian Meise's feature film »Still Life«. She then stepped away from the industry for a few years to focus on her personal life before returning in mid-2018 with her third album »From Gas to Solid/You Are My Friend«.
