Susanna & the two old men

With the final concert of »Resonanzen« 2025, we return to our starting point in Room No. V of the Kunsthistorisches Museum's Picture Gallery. After all, there are other paintings hanging there alongside Tintoretto's »White-Bearded Man«. For example: two depictions of the subject »Susanna in the Bath«; one by Veronese and one (perhaps the more beautiful one) by - - -? Correct: by Tintoretto! In 1748, Handel was inspired by the theme to create a strangely beautiful hybrid between opera and oratorio, which the Scottish Dunedin Consort will now perform for the first time in the Vienna Konzerthaus under the direction of the harpsichordist and musicologist John Butt, who has long been legendary in the Anglican world, on the occasion of his Austrian debut.
