Triumph of the provinces

The train of thought is as follows: Thomas Bernhard liked to present himself as rustic, but by nature - and even more so in his work - he was an aristocrat. He staged himself in the country, but was a city dweller through and through. In a way, he stylized himself as a “country aristocrat” just like the princes of the Baroque era. Folk borrowings abound in Baroque music and are uncovered in this extraordinary joint concert by a traditional folk and a modern Baroque music ensemble. Die Tanzgeiger confront music by Biber, among others, with original folklore, play both alternately and - at the end - together with Gunar Letzbor's Ars Antiqua Austria and, last but not least, guarantee particularly effective encores on the Feststiege, following the buffet in the foyer.
